Back story

Folding Pocket publicly launched in July 2021 with a mission of establishing leading original programming across four key verticals: sport, entertainment, documentaries and scripted fiction. In the short time since, it has produced and released a range of critically acclaimed, award-nominated and chart-topping shows across each pillar.

The company began with sport and the launch of The Good, The Bad & The Rugby, which rapidly became the world’s biggest rugby show of any kind outside of live match broadcasts, recently completing a 15-date theatre tour of the UK and Ireland.

Its next shows were in comedy and entertainment with two of our titles commissioned by streaming platforms on an exclusive basis; Rob Brydon’s Brydon & was launched exclusively on Spotify, while Three Little Words with John Bishop and Tony Pitts became an Amazon Music original.

Folding Pocket’s debut documentary podcast followed next. Defiance, a history of protest in sport led by legendary sprinter Michael Johnson, was commissioned by Audible, critically acclaimed, and won a number of awards including Documentary of the Year at the prestigious Sports Journalist Awards. Follow-up documentary Moment of Truth for BBC Sounds, a definitive, all-access look at football management that embeds alongside two League One bosses fighting for promotion to the Championship.

The company launched the UK’s first major fiction podcast with household name acting talent. Curl Up & D.I. topped the charts and featured beloved British acting talent including Katherine Kelly, Mark Benton, Vic Reeves, Morgana Robinson and more. Further drama podcasts with major acting talent will follow soon, including projects starring James Nesbitt and Maxine Peake.

With an expansive slate of immersive, imaginative and inventive shows, a rapidly growing headcount and dozens of new projects in the pipeline, Folding Pocket has rapidly become one of the biggest players in the UK podcast industry. Their moves in the space go beyond content, with the company investing six figures on a market-leading 1,500 sq. ft. studio in London, which will be the home of significant new projects including Unbelievable, a new weekly football podcast that reunites iconic TV double act Chris Kamara and Ben Shephard.
